PR3

Rowing with Legs, Trunk, and Arms.

We provide Para Rowing opportunities for elite athletes. As we work to increase our supply of para rowing equipment, we enable individuals with various disabilities to train and compete. We currently have athletes representing all three para classifications (PR1, PR2, and PR3) competing out of our facilities. Coached by Sasha Bailey, our athletes have competed at the local, national and international level. More information regarding classifications can be found on the Paralympic Website.

To ensure proper personalized training, an initial assessment will be done on an indoor rowing machine, allowing coaches and athletes to determine the level of function of the athlete.

FREEDOM ROWS PROGRAM

We provide training opportunities, both on and off the water, specifically tailored to military veterans and members of the armed forces who have disabilities. We warmly welcome Individuals of all ages, experience levels, and abilities to participate. This is an amazing way for veterans to stay active and connect with other veterans in the community.

Thanks to generous support, we are able to offer this opportunity free of charge to veterans and their spouses. Rowing equipment will be provided, including but not limited to boats, oars, and indoor rowing machines. Even if you have never rowed before, this is a great opportunity to learn from those with years of rowing and coaching experience. Join us at West Side today for an opportunity to learn new skills, build new friendships, and compete against others!

PR1 are rowers with minimal or no trunk function who primarily propel the boat through arm and shoulder function. These rowers have poor sitting balance, which requires them to be strapped to the boat/seat.

PR2

PR2 are rowers that have functional use of arms and trunk but have weakness/absence of leg function to slide the seat

PR3

PR3 are rowers with residual function in the legs which allows them to slide the seat. This class also includes athletes with vision impairment.

The West Side Rowing Club offers para rowing opportunities at all age levels. Athletes will be working with coach Sasha Bailey at either a learn-to-row level or competitive level.

West Side is committed to making rowing as accessible of a sport as possible. For any questions about our para rowing team, please fill in the information below and we will get back to you with rowing options.
