Designed for students in grades 6–8, the program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and confidence both on and off the water. Athletes learn proper rowing technique, water safety, and boat handling while building strength, endurance, and friendships. With experienced coaches and a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and personal growth, our middle school rowers develop a solid foundation that prepares them for future competitive opportunities while fostering a lifelong love of the sport.

School Year Programming
The West Side Rowing Club Middle School Program is open to athletes in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade who are interested in learning about rowing and exploring Buffalo’s waterfront.
The Middle School program is designed as a learn to row program rather than a competitive racing program.
The West Side Rowing Club offers a summer rowing camp for ages 11-16. Crew Camp is a great way to try out the sport and see if it’s a good fit. It’s also a great opportunity to make friends and try something new!
Summer Programming
junior rowing
The West Side Rowing Club High School Program is open to athletes in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade who attend a high school that does not have it’s own rowing program.
The High School program is separated into a competitive Novice and Varsity team. Athletes will compete in Canada, and the North Eastern region of the U.S.
School Year Programming
During the Summer every junior athlete competes for the Club team, regardless of school affiliation. Teams are separated into aged based categories of U17 and U19 teams or competitive sculling.
Teams will compete at both U.S. and Canadian Regattas.
