West Side Rowing Club is known for its growing and increasingly more competitive adult programs. With both competitive and learn to row programs, we work with all ages and skill levels to teach the sport of rowing. Please see below for current winter program offerings.

Our winter programs are a great way for athletes to improve both their physical fitness and rowing ability. Our facilities make West Side one of the most capable winter training facilities in the country. We have 60 rowing machines as well as a recently renovated 10-person full indoor rowing simulator tank.

NEW AND EXPANDED PROGRAM OPTIONS FOR ADULT WINTER ERGING!
OPTION 1: (Intermediate Class) Adult Winter Erg at The Frank Lloyd Wright Boathouse / Main Boathouse facility / Indoor Tank Room this Winter! Whether you have never picked up an oar, or rowed in high school or college, we welcome all masters (adults ages 18 and up) into the Winter Training Program. The winter training program will focus on strength, flexibility and erg technique to prepare you for summer rowing in 2026. Workouts and a coach will be provided. Participants have full usage of the locker-rooms and shower facilities. Please email Kirk Lang with any questions at president@wsrc.org. Capped at 24 due to erg availability. (Shuffle off to Buffalo fee included)
Practice Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00-7:30 p.m. and Sundays 7:30-9:00 AM in the Main Boathouse facility.
Price: $175 per session OR $100 OFF with purchase of all 4 sessions. Payment plan available, if needed, with purchase of all 4 sessions.
Session 1: November 17 - December 21 / Session 2: January 5 - February 8 / Session 3: February 9 - March 15 / Session 4: March 16 - April 19

The winter training program will focus on strength, flexibility and increased intensity erg sessions and core training to prepare you for competitive races in 2026. Workouts and a coach will be provided. Participants have full usage of the locker-rooms and shower facilities. Please email Kirk Lang with any questions at president@wsrc.org. Capped at 30 due to erg availability. (Shuffle Off to Buffalo fee included)

OPTION 3: NEW FOR 2025/2026: Indoor Adult Coached TANK TRAINING sessions at the West Side Rowing Club.
Training in an indoor rowing tank offers several key benefits:
Technique Development: Provides a controlled environment to focus on rowing technique without the distractions of water currents.
Strength and Endurance: Helps build muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance through targeted workouts.
Consistent Conditions: Ensures uniform water temperature and flow, allowing for consistent training sessions.
Team Coordination: Facilitates practice for crews to develop synchronization and communication skills.
Injury Prevention: Focused training can help reduce the risk of injuries associated with improper technique or overtraining.

Option 4: NEW FOR 2026: Winter Rowing League (ERG BEGINNER CLASS): Learn how to erg in the Frank Lloyd Wright Boathouse!
Offered either 1x per week on Saturday or Sunday from 8:30-10:00 AM or Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45-7:15am
Join us this winter for the Winter Rowing League Erg Program. This program is designed for novice rowers and those who prefer to row once per week in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Open to all masters rowers (ages 18 and up), the program focuses on building strength, flexibility, and proper erg technique to help you prepare for the 2026 summer rowing season. Each session includes a structured workout and coaching support to help you improve at your own pace.
Participants will have full access to locker rooms and shower facilities. Space is limited to 20 participants due to erg availability.
Price is $125
Session 1 (Saturday): January 10 - February 28 / Session 2 (Sunday): January 11 - March 1
Tuesday/Thursday Session: November 18th - December 18th (Thanksgiving Off)
